Description

If the user shoots photos in RAW+JPEG mode, it would be nice to be able to import RAW+JPEG files together and have Shotwell show them as a single file. In this case the user could choose to have Shotwell use the JPEG file for rendering rather than running the libraw pipeline on the RAW image.

This would certainly reduce the redundancy on the light box. I would vote this up.

Just a 'me too'. Please add this!

Me too

Moreover, It seems this feature requires “stack photos” in prerequisite

“stack photos” is potentially used for JPEG+RAW, Bracketing, Panorama, HDR, etc…

So, maybe, you should create a ticket for implementing “stack item” first.

Ok i've found the “stack item” ticket : http://trac.yorba.org/ticket/2090

Me too! ;-)

This would be very useful when sorting/cullling pictures, as deleting the picture would delete both raw and jpg versions… I currently have to run a script comparing filenames to delete raw when jpg doesn't exist anymore.

Would this work if raw and jpg versions are not in the same folder/drive? (eg Home/Pictures/2011-03-02 for jpg and External/Raw pictures/2011-03-02 for raw)

It would certainly be nice to allow this.

+1 on implementing this through an image stack type method.

It would kill several birds with one stone:

1. Obvious RAW/%(=caps)JPG% stacking

2. Reverting to original image wouldn't be hidden away in a menu option, you'd just select 'Original' or 'Modified on ' in a dropdown box or similar in the Basic Information pane

3. Panoramas, HDRs etc. could all stack together in the one image (ie. the finished product on 'top' and all the constituent images underneath it)

I'd love to attack this myself, but I have 0 experience in Vala.

Mike, no need to do any development here, this bug should have already been assigned to me.
